Some 250,000 gay and straight revelers from Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Britain and elsewhere in Europe converge on this Catalan resort town for the grand parade, spectacular drag shows, parties and other events of this immensely popular gay and lesbian Carnival.
Sitges is located 35 km south of Barcelona on the Mediterranean coast of Spain and is one of the most popular resorts of Southern Europe. It boasts 17 beaches including a gay beach and a nude beach.
