This year's Vienna International Dance Festival opens with a performance by the American tap dance sensation Savion Glover who will be accompanied by four Jazz musicians from New York City.
Savion Glover (performer, choreographer, director) is the 1996 Tony Award winner for his choreography in the Broadway hit Bring in ‘da Noise, Bring in ‘da Funk. Mr. Glover also won the 1996 Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Award for choreography, two Obie Awards and two Fred Astaire Awards for his performance, as well as the 1996 Dance Magazine Choreographer of the Year Award.
In Mr. Glovers's dance work, Bare Soundz, tap easily merges jazz and hip hop, and the three “Hooferz”, i.e. Savion Glover, Marshall Davis, jr. and Cartier A. Williams, pick up from where the likes of Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly left off.
