Life is nothing but a disaster exercise. At least so in Andrea Bozic’s group piece, presenting a balancing act by means of movement, language and video: between fiction and reality, but also between the fear of and the lust for disaster. Film classics like Blade Runner, Das Boot and Solaris served as inspirations. The conceptual point of departure goes back to “Nothing Can Surprise Us-Day” that used to take place every year in former Yugoslavia. On that day, the entire nation rehearsed a nationwide emergency and the whole country was transformed into a huge playground.
Born in Croatia, Andrea Bozic lives and works in Amsterdam. Since 2005, she has been creating performances and installations blurring the boundaries of film, video and choreography.
