There is more to modern and contemporary Italian history and politics than the sex scandal of it's current Prime Minister, Silvio Berluscunni.
Entitled, "Italy: an old and unfinished Nation".The First Gaetano Salvemini Lecture will be delivered by Giuliano Amato, with an introduction by Ambassador Richard Gardner.
Professor Amato, a member of Italy's Parliament for 18 years, is a former Prime Minister of Italy (1992-1993 and 2000-2001), a distinguished statesman and Professor of Constitutional Law and the President of the National Committee for the Celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the Unification of Italy.
The Gaetano Salvemini Lectures are named after one of the most prominent scholars of social sciences of the XX century. Gaetano Salvemini, exile from Fascist Italy and professor at Harvard until 1948.
