Set against the rise and fall of the American car industry, theatre maker Walter Bart tells the story about his granddad, car dealer Arie Bart. In the fifties, Arie has a car dealership. On a business trip to the mother company General Motors in Detroit he becomes romantically involved with an American soul singer. In a cross-over of dramatised documentary, theatre and music Arie Bart’s remarkable life is juxtaposed with the romance of the American Dream and the transience of the car as a sex symbol.
