For more than half a century, Ileanna and Michael Sonnabend have been recognized as two of the most influential collectors and dealers of modern and contemporary art in the world. The Sonnabend galleries in Paris and New York launched and supported the careers of Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, Cy Twombly, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenberg, Jeff Koons and Hiroshi Sugimoto. The galleries’ exhibitions have presented the full gamut of modern and contemporary art movements, from Pop to minimalism, from conceptualism to performance.
