Jazz figured prominently in the work of American sculptor Kenneth Price, born in Los Angeles in 1935. A student of jazz great Chet Baker, Price's sculptures draw inspiration from the perfect balance of melodic artistry and surprising improvisation in 1940s and 50s jazz.
In conjunction with the exhibition Ken Price Sculpture: A Retrospective (now on view), a special free concert saluting two of Price's musical influences, Chet Baker and Miles Davis, will take place on 4 October 2012. The exhibition will be open from 5 pm to 9 pm the day of the concert.
