Marlene Dumas (born in Cape Town in 1953) has made a selection of her Magdalens and pinups in ink wash and watercolour. Dumas does not idealise the body, but shows it frankly as a source of temptation and pleasure, taking photographs from sex magazines and Polaroid pictures as her models. This Brussels exhibition will be followed by a retrospective in the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam (autumn 2014), which will travel to Tate Modern in London and the Fondation Beyeler in Basel.
