Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod turn their attention to Jacobean tragedy with a new production of John Ford’s ‘Tis Pity She's a Whore.

In this violent and bloody drama, we watch a brother and sister’s passionate descent into hell. Incest and the corruption of morality and religion make this play as controversial today as it was almost four hundred years ago.

Formed in 1981 by Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod, Cheek by Jowl has performed in 301 cities in more than 40 countries.

Tis Pity She’s a Whore is produced by Cheek by Jowl in a co-production with the Barbican, London, Les Gémeaux/Sceaux/ Scène Nationale and Sydney Festival.
