Homo Faber: The Return of ‘making’ in contemporary art

Homo Faber. Il ritorno del fare nell’arte contemporanea. (Homo Faber. The Return of ‘making’ in contemporary art) features works created by more than thirty nationally and internationally-known contemporary artists whose works ‘communicate’ with the treasures of the Castello Sforzesco situated in the sale della Rocchetta.

Curated by Mimmo Di Marzio in collaboration with Nicoletta Castellaneta, the aim of the exhibition is to link the present with the past and to highlight the conceptual and formal bond between works from as early as the Middle Ages to the languages of contemporary art, notably the dedication to technique and material knowledge, both of which are aspects in the current revival of manual skills by contemporary artists.

The show includes drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, video and site-specific works.
