James Nyoraku Schlefer : Dream Corner - a World Premiere for string quartet, shakahachi, koto and shamisen
Mr. Schlefer’s new piece is in ten sections and brings two classic chamber music ensembles - the string quartet and the classic Japanese sankyoku - to the same stage, in what might be the first piece ever written for this combination of instruments. It tells the story of two lovers who can only meet when they dream together and it is set to two poems by Ono no Komachi.
