The Da Pompei a Roma exhibition is a selection of some 700 items from Pompeii and neighbouring towns, some newly excavated from the lava. Against a background of frescoes and virtual animation, visitors will discover the objects, bronze sculptures, jewellery and coins which once belonged to illustrious families, on loan for the first time from the museums of Pompeii and Naples, where they will return permanently after the Brussels exhibition.
the exhibition will display the famous model of Rome from the Cinquantenaire museum, which will be completely refashioned for the event. Life size copies of Riace's famous bronzes will also be on show, before becoming the showpiece of Italy's contribution to the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004.
