Highlights include original architectural elements from the foyer of the Strand Palace Hotel, London, especially restored by the V&A for the exhibition; a selection of works from Ruhlmann's influential Art Deco Grand Salon, exhibited at the 1925 Paris Exhibition and brought together for the first time since then; exquisite Cartier jewellery; paintings and sculpture by some of the most important artists of the century including Fernand Léger, Albert Gleizes and Sonia Delaunay; and fashion by such eminent designers as Jeanne Lanvin and Coco Chanel.

The exhibition will open at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, after its run in San Francisco.
