The National Gallery of Athens has organized the exhibition Imperial Treasures from China in cooperation with three major museums in Beijing. Many of the items on display belonged to Chinese emperors and have been pronounced national treasures: neolithic ceramic vases, Shang dynasty gold burial offerings dating to the XV century BC, bronze ceremonial utensils decorated with sacred masks, burial statuettes from the Silk Route and the Han (II century BC) and Tang dynasties (VI - X centuries AD), valuable rare porcelain from the golden Song dynasty (X - XII centuries AD), and extraordinary examples of jade and gold miniatures from the tombs of Ming emperors (XIV - XVII centuries AD). Moreover, works of Chinese calligraphy and painting dating back to the 14th until the 19th centuries are on display.
